Democratic Delegate Selection Process Deadline Approaches

COLUMBUS – Ohio Democrats can be part of the
official selection of the 2004 presidential
candidate by becoming a presidential candidate
delegate. Applicants must file for the
positions by 5 p.m., January 1, 2004.
The Ohio Democratic Party will select 91
district delegates and 16 district alternates
to represent presidential candidates. They will
join other delegates representing Ohio at the
2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston
next July.
A contingent of 45 men and 46 women from will
be selected at Congressional District Caucuses
meeting on January 12, 2004. Caucuses will be
conducted in each of the state’s 18
Congressional Districts. Each Congressional
District will have at least two men and two
women delegates selected to represent Ohio at
the National Convention.
To become a delegate or an alternate, one must
file a “Declaration of Candidacy” form with the
Ohio Democratic Party by 5 p.m. January 1,
2004. The forms are available at the party
website: www.ohiodems.org Completed forms can
be mailed or faxed to the state party.
Locations of the caucuses will be announced no
later than December 29, 2003.
