Montgomery County Judge hopes to help
restore balance to Ohio Supreme Court
Dayton – Judge A.J. Wagner, Montgomery County
Common Pleas Court Judge and former County
Auditor, officially announced his candidacy for
the Ohio Supreme Court.
Judge Wagner has a proven track record of
putting families first in his courtroom and has
been focused on protecting children throughout
his years of community and public service.
Judge Wagner began his career as an elementary
school teacher before he entered law school and
started his own law practice. Judge Wagner
went on to serve as a Probate Court Referee,
Municipal Court Judge, Montgomery County
Auditor, and has served on the Montgomery
County Court of Common Pleas since 2000.
Wagner has consistently been among the top
vote-getters in Montgomery County.
“For over a decade, my experience as a former
award winning County Auditor instilled in me a
commitment to checks and balances and a passion
for oversight and accountability. As a Judge,
I have earned a reputation for being firm, but
fair with those that break our laws or threaten
our system of justice. I will bring that same
reputation for fairness to the Ohio Supreme
Court. I plan on helping to restore the
Court’s credibility with the people of Ohio,”
said Judge Wagner.
Wagner is also a published author of four
children’s books. “It is my deep belief that
the younger generation is the future of our
country.” One of his books focuses on
character education and was used in Dayton City
Schools. He drew upon his early childhood
experiences in writing the children’s books.
“As one of eighteen children, I learned a great
deal about justice. You learn to be a referee,
a counselor and a listener.”
