GOP attack ad hollow - they're the real tax raisers!

Columbus – As if to re-write history, Ohioans wake up today to find out that the Ohio Republican Party and Ohio Republican Senatorial Committee are attacking Democrats over taxes they were not in power to pass over the last four years.

“There is a funny thing about facts; it gets in the way of the Republicans version of the truth. Any tax passed over the last four years is on the GOP leadership’s watch in both Washington D.C. and Columbus. In Ohio, that has included the largest and second largest tax increases in the state’s history under Bob Taft and his Republican counterparts,” said Chris Redfern, Chair of the Ohio Democratic Party.

“Why is it that when Republicans run ads they are against taxes, and yet when they are in power, they raise taxes consistently. They have a 16-year record of tax increases on Ohio families under their leadership. This gimmick is ringing hollow,” said Redfern.

“What Ohioans need is honest leadership and job creation – not a hypocritical smokescreen that hides the Republican record of tax hikes.”
