OLBC Says an Entire System Change is Needed in Ohio
Columbus – The Ohio Legislative Black Caucus (OLBC) is highlighting the significance of the May 2nd Primary Election and encouraging strong voter turnout and support for a diverse slate of statewide Democrat candidates that includes:
- Ted Strickland and Lee Fisher for Governor and Lieutenant Governor
- Sherrod Brown for the US Senate
- Ben Espy and AJ Wagner for Ohio Supreme Court
- Barbara Sykes for State Auditor
- Jennifer Brunner for Secretary of State
- Richard Cordray for State Treasurer
- Marc Dann for Attorney General
“The May 2nd Primary will provide an opportunity for voters to select their Party’s nominee for Governor and a variety of other important statewide offices,” said Representative Sylvester Patton (D-Youngstown) and OLBC 1st Vice President. “Voters have the opportunity to turn Ohio in the right direction by selecting the candidates that have the best ideas and solutions to the problems facing our families, neighborhoods and communities.”
“OLBC members have no doubt that Ted Strickland is the best choice for Governor,” said Representative Patton. “He has the integrity, determination and plan to help improve the quality of life of all people across Ohio regardless of their race, gender, economic status or religious beliefs.”
Under the current Republican administration, millions of taxpayer dollars have been mismanaged and stolen; poverty and hunger rates have gone up; and our schools have become more separate and unequal. “It is evident that Ohio’s current statewide office holders have been more concerned about using their current office to position themselves for higher office rather than improving the lives of the people they have been elected to serve,” said Representative Patton.
“We need an entire system change in Ohio,” said Representative Patton. “The first step to making that system change is strong voter support for Ted Strickland for Governor and our other endorsed Democrat candidates during the May 2nd Primary Election.”
